On September 1, 2008, we will implement computer-based testing (CBT) of the CBAP exam at dedicated test centers around the world. What exactly does this mean? Effective September 1, 2008, approved applicants will be able to register online to take the CBAP exam at a dedicated test center in their area or close to it.

Benefits include:

More dates, times and locations to choose from Proximity of locations so less travel time and costs More international locations including (but not limited to) Australia, New Zealand, England, UAE, India, China, etc.
Please click here for a current list of CBT locations for the CBAP exam.

The CBT exam cancellation policy is as follows. If you cancel 5 business days or fewer before the CBT exam date you registered for, or you do not pay the cancellation fee to Castle Worldwide, you will forfeit the exam fee you paid (i.e., $325 or $450), and you must pay the full exam fee to reschedule.

As with our current application process, applicants must submit their application package to the IIBA and be approved prior to registering for the exam. Please indicate CBT beside the Exam Location when completing the application form. For example, Exam Location: Boston, MA, USA – CBT. Once an application is approved, the applicant will be provided with a user id and password to register online for the test center and test date of their choice. Approved applicants will have a selection of dates and times to choose from at most dedicated test centers.

We are accepting all applications including those specifying computer based testing. The current priority for assessing applications is being given to the applications for the exams scheduled below. Once CBT is implemented, priority for assessing applications will be on a first come first served basis. Please note: Once an application is approved, the exam candidate has 1 year to take the CBAP exam before their application lapses. It is the candidate's responsibility to ensure their application does not lapse.

Approved Applicants prior to May 1 and CBT

Applicants who have already been approved by the IIBA to take the CBAP exam prior to May 1, 2008 (i.e. you received your approved email from the IIBA prior to May 1) and, who are not currently registered for one of the exam dates scheduled below will be able to register for computer-based testing effective July 1, 2008. NO action is required on your part. You will automatically receive an email with your user id, password and CBT registration instructions from our exam administrators, Castle Worldwide, by or on July 1.

2008 CBAP Exam Schedule and Exam Hosting Policy

As a result of implementing computer-based testing in Q3, we currently only have paper-based sittings of the CBAP exam scheduled for Q2.

Ongoing, we believe the demand for the CBAP exam will mostly be met by applicants wanting to register themselves for computer-based testing at their own convenience. However, our existing Exam Hosting Policy is still in effect for IIBA Chapters, EEPs and companies who prefer to schedule a sitting of the CBAP exam in their area.

All complete applications postmarked by and on the application deadline date will be considered for the exam specified.

For applications postmarked after the application deadline date, the IIBA reserves the right to reject the application, or if the application is approved, charge a late fee to the applicant to register for the exam specified.

For incomplete applications, the IIBA reserves the right to charge a late fee if the missing pieces of the application are not postmarked by or on the application deadline date.

Note: If a candidate cannot make their original scheduled exam date, it will be his/her responsibility to re-schedule the exam by emailing certification@theiiba.org.

Some CBAP exams are scheduled during conferences/symposiums. CBAP exam candidates are NOT required to register and attend the conferences/symposiums if they are not interested.

If you have questions, please see the FAQs page in the Certification section of the IIBA website. If your specific question was not answered here, send an email to certification@theiiba.org.

Update on the Online Application Process and Payment

The implementation of the online application process and payment are on track for the end of Q3. Once this project is implemented, interested applicants will be able to complete and submit their application package online as well as pay for their application and exam fees online. Information on the progress and completion of this project will be made available ongoing in the monthly newsletter as well as on the IIBA website under Certification.
