Understanding the SQL Server 2008 and Database Security Enhancements

If you are considering using SQL Server encryption technologies and you have not used SQL Server 2005 equivalents, then this session is for you. Those experienced with SQL Server encryption may want to look elsewhere. We will explore the SQL Server 2008 encryption including: SQL Server encryption hierarchy, Transparent Data Encryption, encrypting a column, managing the server and database encryption keys. You will see many scripts and demonstrations to aid your understanding of the concepts.

Considerations of Using Excel Data Sources in SSIS 2005

When connecting to Excel, SSIS uses drivers built for Access databases. Since Excel is not a database, nor does it behave like on when it comes to data type consistency within columns, etc, one sometimes encounters “unexpected behavior” when importing from Excel. This presentation will cover the reasons behind some of that unexpected behavior and some techniques to overcome those possible speed bumps in the data flow highway.
